A receipt is a short list of small numbers, and a loose text copy often loses which price belongs to which item. This page turns one receipt into a single JSON object, with the shop, date, items, tax and total as separate fields and the printed values left unchanged. Typed text and text-based PDFs preview here; photos and scans need a free account because they require OCR.

What you get

Printed values stay as printed

Shop name, date, each item price, tax lines and the total are copied as they appear on the receipt, including currency symbols and decimal style. The tool does not round or recalculate them.

Nested, snake_case structure

Shop details, the item list, tax and totals are grouped as objects and arrays with clear keys such as item_name, unit_price and grand_total, so the data is easy to read in code.

null instead of guesses

If the receipt does not show a payment method, receipt number or tax rate, that field is returned as null. Nothing is filled in to make the output look complete.

How it works

  1. Step 1

Paste the receipt text, or drop a PDF or Word file into the box.

  2. Step 2

Read the preview: the start of the JSON appears straight away, in a code block you can copy.

  3. Step 3

A free account shows the whole JSON, adds a .json download, and handles photos, scans, long files and batches.

Who uses it

  • Developers testing a parser

Get real receipt layouts converted to JSON so you can check how your code handles item lines, tax rows and totals.

  • Bookkeepers sorting receipts

Turn a batch of receipts into structured records with the date, shop and total kept exactly as printed, ready for a ledger import.

  • Small-business owners logging spending

Keep each purchase as a clean record with its items and tax, without retyping the figures from a paper or emailed receipt.

Questions

Are the prices and total in the JSON exactly as printed?

Yes. The shop name, date, each item price, tax lines and total are copied as they appear, with currency symbols and decimal style kept. If the printed total does not match the items, the JSON keeps the printed total and the tool names the mismatch in a short line after the JSON.

What happens when a field is missing from the receipt?

The field is returned as null. For example, a receipt without a payment method or receipt number gives null for those keys rather than a guessed value.

Can I convert a photo of a receipt?

Yes, with a free account. Photos and scanned images need OCR to read the text, which the free preview does not do. Text-based PDFs and pasted text preview here; the preview reads up to 5 pages or 2 MB of PDF and about 6,000 characters of text.

Is the converted JSON always correct?

Not always. Results can contain mistakes, especially with faded print, crumpled paper or unusual layouts. Check the JSON against the original receipt when the numbers matter, such as for expense claims or tax records.

Does the preview keep my file?

No. The preview does not keep the file you upload. A free account is needed to get the full JSON and download it as a .json file.
